Rescued from Destruction

In 2010 I had the privilege of putting together a small website for George and Ann Robertson’s book, Rescued from Destruction: Driving a 1949 Mercury in Australia for 50 years

This is as much a book about their Christian faith, as it is about the restoration and related stories about the cars.

From the website:

Today, car books are plentiful.

This book, however, is unique and historic, full of adventure, humour and dogged determination.

George and Ann Robertson have driven a 1947 Mercury from 1956 to 1958, a 1949 Mercury (Mercury 1) from 1958 to 1984 and a second 1949 Mercury (Mercury 2) from 1970 to 1974 and again from 1984 to today. Have many other owners stayed with the same make of car after so long as an everyday family car?

An intriguing inspiring story - possibly virtually unbelievable.

Restoring two previously abused, unappreciated red and white 1949 Mercurys, years of travel time with horse floats and caravans, everyday motoring, car trials, scampering around Calder and Sandown race tracks near Melbourne and touring with RACV ‘Fly the Flag’ tours.

Readers will be enthralled and amused by the Robertsons’ antics. God always protected them. Why? Sometimes the authors do not know, but God loves us all and has much wisdom to give to those who seek to follow Him.

The book is packed full of stories and photos and sells for $39.95.

Visit rescuedfromdestruction.com to find out more or order your copy.

If you do order a copy, let them know you found it through here.  I can’t offer a discount, but it gives me some kudos for having mentioned it wink
